DogWatch® Hidden Fences give pets the freedom to run and play leash free at home, but what about when the dog tags along for summer vacation? Why not bring DogWatch with you? Here are three ways you can enjoy the freedom of our hidden fences all summer long!

Vacation Homes

DogWatch Hidden Fences can be customized to fit a wide variety of properties, including beachfront properties, lake houses and mountain getaways. If your dog misses the freedom of his hidden fence when he travels with you to your vacation home or to grandma’s house, talk to the local DogWatch Dealer about setting up a hidden fence at your vacation home (or grandma’s house). You can use the same DogWatch receiver collars you use at home, and DogWatch would be happy to come out to train your dog on his new boundaries.

But what if you want to give your dog access to the water at your lake house? No problem! All DogWatch receivers are waterproof, and DogWatch Dealers can extend the hidden fence boundary wire into water, which carries the signal out a desired distance. This allows a dog to swim without damaging the receiver or negating the fence system’s radio signal.  If the dog swims close to the boundary, the receiver collar will alert him and he will retreat, just like he would if he approached the boundary in his yard.

Don’t need a full-featured hidden fence for your small vacation property, or have a summer garden or pool you want your pets to avoid? Our GroundsKeeper® is a versatile hidden dog or cat fence option that can be used to keep your pet contained in small yards or out of specific areas such as your garden, driveway, pool or swing set. The GroundsKeeper can be used in conjunction with a larger Hidden Fence system if you already have one, or can be used on its own.

Portable Indoor Boundaries

Several months after purchasing a DogWatch Hidden Fence for her two Border Collies, DogWatch by K9 Keeper Fencing customer Ann purchased two units to “fence off” a couple areas of her house that she preferred to be pet-free. “This makes for much ease in our household,” says Ann, “and we can also take the units with us when we travel to fence the dogs in or out of certain areas.”

If your pets are tagging along on your travels this summer, DogWatch Indoor Boundaries are a great solution to help keep your pets safe and your vacation stress-free. Worried about your puppy knocking over grandma’s antiques or your cat scratching the furniture in your rental unit? The DogWatch IB-100 is a small portable indoor invisible pet fence with a rechargeable battery that will protect an area up to 8 feet in diameter (4 feet from the center). No wires or plugs needed! Another flexible indoor solution, the IB-200, can be installed with a wire to protect a large defined indoor area. The IB-200 can also be used without a wire to protect smaller areas up to 10 feet in diameter (5 feet from center). Plus, you can use the same collar with both the indoor fence and the outdoor fence, so bring your collar with you!

Hiking or Camping with the BigLeash Remote Trainer

Do you prefer to keep moving instead of spending your vacation at the beach? If so, we bet your equally adventurous dog loves to tag along! In order to stay connected on the open trail, consider a BigLeash® Remote Trainer from DogWatch. Remote Trainers, also known as an e-collars, let you send a training signal from a handheld transmitter to a receiver collar worn by your dog. The signal gets the dog’s attention and can be used to teach and reinforce training commands and to help change undesirable behaviors.

The BigLeash comes in two models: the BigLeash S-15 Remote Trainer, which has 15 training levels (levels of stimulation) to accommodate a wide variety of training needs and pet personalities; and the BigLeash V-10 Vibration Trainer, which has 10 adjustable levels of vibration and is especially good for sensitive or hearing impaired dogs. Our office dogs regularly wear the BigLeash when hiking at lunchtime in a nearby nature preserve, and it allows even our most stubborn pups (looking at you, Lucy!) the ability to run freely on the trail while remaining safe and connected to their dog parent.
